About Omalloor   Photo Gallery

Located on the lower reaches of the Western Ghats, 5 K.M south of Pathanamthitta Town, Omalloor is an enchanting place of rural landscapes, and a place of peace and harmony. The River Achankovil marks the eastern border of the Omalloor Panchayat.

The village is also famous for its Vayalvanibham, the annual cattle fair of the State, is held in the Malayalam month of Meenam (Pisces). People from all over the State and even outside participate in this rustic fair.

Like many other communities in central Kerala, Omallur has a relatively high proportion of working age adults as diaspora, also known as non-resident Indians(NRIs).

The Rektha Kanda Swamy Temple is a grand temple situated in Omalloor and is famous for the annual festival (utsavam) Temple Utsavam and Church feasts (Palliperunal) are celebarated as village festivals.Uzhuvathu Devi Temple, Thazhoor

Bhagavati Temple and Mathoor Kaavu Bhagavathi Temple - situated on the banks of Achenkovil river - are famous Hindu temples. The Thazhoor Bhagavati Temple, famous for the annual Padayani rituals during the Malayalam month of Kumbham. There are many historically important places of worship in Omalloor.

The very old St Thomas Orthodox Valiya Palli (church) is a major place of worship for Christians. St. Stephen's Jacobite Church, St. Thomas Malankara Catholic Church, Puthenpeedika , St. Peter's Malankara Catholic Church, Cheekanal and Mar Thoma Church, Omalloor are some other important places worship at Omalloor.

Manjanikkara Dayara is famous for its pilgrimage importance. Every year thousands of pilgrims come by foot to the tomb of Holy Patriach Ignatius Elias III at Manjanikkara.
